I became aware of the dreariness of where I was first. The land around me was an unbroken plain of dust. The sky was overcast and gray. I stood on a path of black stones and behind was a black arch standing alone on the plain. Suddenly I saw a person standing on the road they were hooded and robbed so I could make out no features about them. Suddenly the person signaled, and I could hear a whisper in my mind that said come and follow. I followed the robbed man down the dark path for a time though I cannot say for how long since nothing changed to mark time. From time to time, I saw distant figures struggling on the plains. Once I thought to leave the trail to help them and the voice whispered in my mind stay on the trail, you cannot help them. I continued to follow until as if appearing through a mirage a great hall fashioned of grey stone appeared before us. The robbed being stopped and motioned me towards the door and the voice whispered again to Enter the hall Judgement.
I entered a long hall with a somber air. The hall was decorated in large tapestries displaying the history of the world. The lighting was dim, and I stood at the entrance of the hall. Then another robbed being appeared but this man was not hooded. The robbed man looked somber he did not move his mouth, but I still heard a voice whispering in my mind. The voice told me that I was in the Hall of Judgement where the souls of the dead are judged before they continue their journey. I was told I could remain in the hall for so long as I desired or I could go out the way I came in but then I would be stuck wandering the plains of the lost. I could not go on until I had stood before the Judges. I chose to go before the judges, and the robbed man led me to the end of the hall. I stood before Three great thrones, the beings on the thrones were clothed in finery. The three were very similar but one had a dark and selfish look on his face, one had a smiling and benevolent look, the one in the middle had a stern but kindly look. Each of the Judes spoke into my mind a reviewing my life in the best and the worst of its aspects. The Judges then chose my fate; I was assigned to the great tombs of the Necropolis. I was escorted out to a back door by the robbed man, and I was told to travel the paths to the Necropolis. I exited the hall and moved out and found the path the Dead. I journeyed for I do not know how long until I saw it a vast sprawling city. The city was built around a vast mountain and had different levels rising to an unseen pinnacle. I came to the great gate of the city and as I passed under it. I was transported. The region I found myself in was filled with great sprawling complexes.
I was met by shades of others, and they invited me into their homes in the city. I was told about the city as they knew it. About the vaults under the city where the darkest of souls were imprisoned, about the holy sepulchers where the purest of spirits went, and the various places in between. I learned that what I thought was a great mountain was actually a vast Temple to the Archon of the Dead and within the catacombs slept the Death Guard. At the pinnacle of the temple was the shrine of rebirth and the well of souls. I was told by the shades that the only known way to reach it was travel through the great temple up to its pinnacle. So, I ask them to show me to an entrance into the great temple.
They showed me to a closed gate in the wall of the temple. I entered the temple. It was a dark and gloomy journey through endless hallways and vast catacombs where I saw beings in deep black armor standing as if on guard. I guessed these must be the Death Guard. Every time I encountered stair I went up and I traveled until I came to vast chamber. The camber had only a huge statue of an armored man the face on the statue was of a stern king and he sat as though in judgement. I was passing through the chamber when I felt a vast and terrifying presence touch my mind. The presence only touched me briefly, but I could feel it measuring and judging me. Then the presence left me, and I moved on to a stair leading up and then I found myself in a shrine. At the end of the shrine stood a deep well. The robbed man appeared again to tell me if I sought to be reborn in the mortal, I need only enter the well, but he told me there was a risk that my soul could be lost if I was not ready for the experience. I chose to enter the well and stepped in the experience was intense I felt my entire being laid bare. I could see everything that I had done with no shield or delusions to protect me. I almost lost my mind in the process, but I survived the process. Now, I am reborn. I make this record of this experience before the knowledge fades completely from my mind.
