In the depth of the seasons in the time of transition from the long bright and warm day to the long cold nights the beast appears. A beast of great statue and spirit it appears and begins to wander the land. In the village when the people begin to discover the tracks of the beast, the great hunt is called. All the great hunters and those who wish to be hunters go out and begin tracking the beast.
The beast is cunning and dangerous always men hunt it and always it seeks to evade. In the village there were old stories told about how the beast would be more dangerous and cunning when the village was ungrateful and no thanks were given. Many began to wonder as the days passed if the hunt would fail this year. If the celebrations of the previous year had not been thankful enough. Then the day came in the bugle of hunting horns; the hunters returned the beast's body in tow.
The celebration of the village was great with the return of the hunt. The beast was prepared in a great ceremony with its hide being striped, and its meat prepared for a great feast. Then the feast of Thanksgiving was held. All through the day the beast was held in honor and ceremonies of thanks were performed for the beast and it sacrifice and the feast was prepared. Then when it was ready, all the villagers gathered, and the feast was laid out with meat of the beast being the center of the feast. All the village partook of the feast, and all were grateful and thankful for the beast. The feast was held in reverence, and all hoped that the beast would appear again for so long as the village stands and is thankful.
