The Old Ones

Warning 

To his Grace the king or whomever his grace has deem capable of handling this information. I have left this notice as a warning the details of this tome are disturbing. It was found in a ruined archive and is believed to date back to the first world. I know not what wild fancies or madness took the author to create such monstrosities. I will not even consider the Idea that any of what he says might be true Archons save us all. I ask that any who read this be wary and I beg that you tell his grace to destroy this tome or put it under very strict guard.

Preface 

It is said that before the foundations of creation existed and even before the gods were born there were the Archons. That the Archons are all powerful but there are powers as great as the archons perhaps even greater than the Archons. Beings that are older and darker than they are and I know their nature. Some call them the great abominations but truly they are the great old ones. I am Malik a mage and an acolyte of the great old ones. I am their servant and herald, and, in this tome, I intend to reveal their nature and powers so that others might know and serve them as well and that they might finally be free.

The whisperer of Discord 

It is believed that out of the primordial chaos there arose first the Archons of Chaos and Order. This is a lie for with these two there also arose the whisperer. The Whisperer is the lord of discord. He walks alone always whispering to those in creation. He is spreader of strife and discord. He is a shadow, the whispers in the darkness when alone. To listen to the whispers will open your mind to the will of discord. In his beginning drove discord between Chaos and Order and later others. He led the old ones in their great war against the Archons before creation. When the Archons and their children prevailed against them, he escaped with some of the old ones and now resides beyond the walls and boundaries of creation. He broods in darkness and chaos whispering and his whispers still worm their way into creation and can still be heard. So, listen my brothers and sisters listen closely for in the deep dark you still might sense his shadow. You still might hear his whispers of discord. 

The Deathless One 

Of the Archons that are most revered by we mortals are Life and Death. From them are the gifts of our life and the hopes of death. My friends there is another more powerful than they. The Deathless One is the master of both life and death. He can give life that is unending bound to our mortal flesh. The tricks of those who practice necromancy are just a pale imitation of the power of the Deathless One. They can only puppeteer dead flesh or call a lost soul and temporarily bind it to our world. The Deathless one is so much more powerful than that. He can hold the soul of a mortal to his flesh forever even while their flesh begins to rot around them. The blessings of the Deathless is that you can never die though it cannot stop the aging of the body. So, you must be careful of your preservation if you seek the blessings of the Deathless One.  

The Silent Desolation 

The silent Lord is the lord of the Great Desolation. Opposed to the archons of Creation and Destruction. The Great Desolation is a shadow overall. Creation and Destruction are set in an endless contest Creation building up and Destruction tearing down so Creation can build up again. Were desolation going the contest ends. The silent lord comes, and the lands creation has built or destruction has ruined comes the silents. Nothing lives where the desolation comes cities left lifeless and battlefields were fields of corpse left gray and silent not even allowed to rot. Such is the will of the Silent Lord.  

The Gray Shadow 

The Gray Shadow walks alone where the cycle of Light and Darkness exist the endless Gray Shadow comes. The Gray Shadow will disrupt the cycle of Light and Darkness. Overshadowing Light and Deepening Darkness. He spreads misery and despair in his shadow. You know the Gray Shadow walks when you stand in the shadows, and you feel the misery and despair come upon you.  

 The Creeping Stagnation 

The creeping stagnation warps the very essence of time. The lord of stagnation stands and all around him the world stagnates. A creeping and moldering stagnation and the world is trapped. Time itself stagnates not the timelessness of eternity or the rapid movement of time moving. Time simply slows stretching out the pains of existence. 

The Waking Nightmare 

In the dangers of Dreams and Reality is the waking Nightmare. He comes in the fear and the terror of your nightmares and revels in them. His blessing is that you even when you wake the nightmare never ends. He draws the nightmares from the world of dreams and gives it form and substance in the waking world. He gives your nightmare to you so that you may feel the fear and the terror even when you wake.  

The Great Deceiver 

The Great Deceiver is the lord of knowledge and the master of ignorance. He knows much and will share it generously but beware the knowledge of the deceiver for all knowledge from him is crooked and bent. The Deceiver delights in giving knowledge that turns fools against on another. 

The Crimson Tide 

The Crimson Tide is the great perversion of decay and purity. Ruled over the Crimson King the tide comes in a rain of blood and seeps into the earth corrupting everything. Anything touched by the corruption is controlled by it and all the corruption is connected in a vast network. Grouped into a great horde the tide will spread and consume anything living. The beings that are consumed become a new part of the horde. 

The Great Devourer 

The great devourer is a perversion of space and void. He walks alone and all things he consumes in the endless void of his maw. Living dead or inanimate all things that fall into his endless maw will be destroyed.
